He listens to the story, asks whether bowel sounds are present and, on hearingg that they are states that he is \"generally unimpressed\" with what sounds like a musculoskeletal injury. He asks Courtney \"not to comit us to anything by giving IV morphine\" until Billy has been examined by \"a competent surgeon\". He says he is a bit busy on the wards, but should be down \"within the hour\" to give an opinion. In the mean time he asks for serial abdominal girth measurements, which are, he says, a reliable indicator of intra-abdominal injury.
