A 24 year old woman is brought to the ED after collapsing in a Chinese restuarant.
On arrival you notice the following.
Airway - patent but marked stridor
Breathing - tachypnoea (25 resp rate) with marked respiratory effort
Circulation - Pulse 132, Blood pressure 75/40
Neurology - GCS 14 confused.
Widespread urticarial rash.
VBGs show the following
pH 7.206
pCO2 - 7.6
p02 - 6.4
Bicarb - 16
Lactate - 5.5
The SHO hands you a vial of hydrocortisone and asks you if they should give it straight away......
