A 24 year old man is brought to the Emergency Department following a moderately high speed RTA between his mororcycle and a car that pulled across its' path. He had been thrown from the motorcycle and there is evidence of damage to the top of his helmet (which has been removed prior to the application of a long spine board and head blocks).
You assess him and decide that in view of hypoxia (sats of 90% on high flow oxygen), restlessness bordering on combatative behaviour you will proceed immediately to RSI.
This is carried out successfully and you then continue through the rest of the primary survey and resuscitation phase.
A trauma series is taken in resus and you warn the CT scanner for a head / upper C spine CT
