X-RAY REPORT

INDICATION: Hyperextension injury to right ring finger,
which is swollen and bruised. ?Avulsion fracture.

FINDINGS: There is a volar plate injury of the right ring
finger at the PIP joint. There is an intraarticular fracture
at the volar base of the middle phalanx of the PIP joint.
The X-ray has been obtained with the gentleman still wearing
the ring, which has obscured the images of the right ring
finger proximal phalanx. It is documented on the card that
the ring could not be removed despite strenuous efforts.
There is also marked swelling of the right ring finger.
CONCLUSION: 1. Volar plate injury at the PIP joint.
2. Ring still on the injured finger.
3. Marked soft tissue swelling.
